Skiing in God's glorious playground - going higher. Spending time with Him - going deeper. Meeting old and new friends - getting closer. The cost of the ski trip includes travel from Glasgow, full board accommodation (with packed lunch), 5 day ski pass, ski hire, ski instruction and insurance.
The travel is by bus from Glasgow to Austria via the Eurotunnel, departing from Glasgow on the Saturday morning (31st March) and arriving in Austria on Sunday early afternoon (1st April). The journey home is similar, leaving Austria on Sat 7th and arriving back in Glasgow on the evening of Sun 8th. This is admittedly a long haul involving an overnight sleep on the bus, but we have found this to be the most cost effective means of travel, and also quite an ice-breaker!
Some things the campers do need money for (that are not included) are:
- food during travel (although many will take a packed lunch on the way out)
- buying snacks/drinks from the tuck shop on the bus
- buying snacks/drinks from the cafe at our accommodation in Austria
- buying lunch on the slopes (although a cold packed lunch in provided, many campers/leaders occasionally like to purchase something on the hill)
- anything purchased on an evening trip to an Austrian town (one night the campers are taken on an evening excursion)
Last year, a stop was arranged in Munich on the return journey for a couple of hours, for food/sightseeing. We hope to organise a similar stop again this year, although this is more likely to be Salzburg and has not been definitely confirmed.
