Basecamp Kingscross Week 1 - TBKX1

Training, Basecamp
10 - 16 Jun, Kingscross , S5 - S6, £245.00
Accompanied travel: Glasgow, Ardrossan

Basecamp is for you if you are over 16 in S5 or S6 at school, or under 18 and have recently left school.

Basecamp includes worship, Bible teaching, training sessions, activities, and time to relax. Previous attendees talk about the huge benefit of Basecamp as a place to go deeper in faith, get into the Bible, learn new skills for mission and develop lasting friendships.

There will be excellent Bible engagement sessions, group discussion and key workshops designed to help you develop the skills you need to work with children and young people and introduce them to the Christian faith. You can expect to think about:

  • How you can be a valuable part of a team

  • What Christian leadership looks like

  • How you can help with small group teaching

  • How to care for your small group of young people

  • The purpose of games and how to lead them

Each Basecamp trainee has an Advisor who helps them to put together their own training plan.

The COmMISSION Programme

Basecamp is part of the COmMISSION programme. In addition to training, we also provide the opportunity to put your training into action by serving as a team member on a holiday or mission team.

Finish the summer with a weekend of review and celebration where there will be time, along with others, to share and reflect on the part you and hundreds of others have played in sharing Jesus with Scotland’s young people.

Lendrick Muir is the venue for this year’s Review Weekend from 23-25 August 2024. (Cost is included in your Basecamp booking, please indicate when booking if you will be attending The Review Weekend).

Cost: The fee for Basecamp covers

  • Your place at Basecamp and the Review Weekend

  • Accommodation, food, and resources

  • Travel from Glasgow to the Basecamp

We are able to offer COmMISSION at a substantially discounted fee as a result of generous donations and encourage all participants to consider how they can meet this. We have even prepared some ideas for you! https://www.suscotland.org.uk/volunteer/commission/fundraising-for-commission/

We do not want anyone to miss out because of costs, though. Please contact info@suholidays.org.uk if you would like to discuss this.

What about activities?

As well as the activities listed on the event pages, you'll also get a chance to take part in other activities at this site. Check out the full list at the venue page here.

What's the location like?

Being on an island brings its own special sense of adventure and the beautiful island of Arran is an amazing location with fantastic outdoor activities, great beaches, impressive mountains, a historic castle and loads more to see and do. Right by the water and and with a view of the Holy Isle our campsite is the ideal place to stay for a great island holiday.

What's Outside?

Our campsite near Whiting Bay is close to the sea and sleeping in our brand new cabins means there’s a truly outdoor feel to the holiday. There are loads of great facilities nearby and on site so there will never be a shortage of things to do here.

What’s inside?

While this is a predominantly outdoor site there are indoor facilities which include a dining room, meeting room, toilets and showers. So whatever the weather, you will be able to enjoy a lovely meal and some meeting times inside as well as out.

Where is it?

Kingscross is on the island of Arran, just across the water from Ardrossan where your ferry will depart from. It is not far from Whiting Bay on the east side of the island.
