Basecamp Scoughall - TBCS1

Training
29 - 31 May, Scoughall , S5 - S6, £65.00
Accompanied travel: Glasgow (£10), Edinburgh (£5)

Basecamp is for you if are 16-18, in S5 or S6 at school, or have recently left school.

All Basecamp events include worship, teaching, training sessions, activities and time to relax. Over and over again people talk of the huge benefit of Basecamp as a place to go deeper in your faith, get into the Bible, learn new skills and develop lasting friendships.

A weekend training event helping to prepare you for the role of Trainee Leader at SU Scotland events this year. There will be excellent Bible engagement sessions, group discussion and key workshops designed to help you develop the skills you need to work with children and young people and introduce them to the Christian faith. You can expect to think about:

  •          how you can help with small group teaching
  •          how to care for your small group of young people
  •          how best to answer young people’s questions
  •          the purpose of games and how to lead them
  •          how to encourage positive behaviour
  •          think through what the Bible teaches about leadership

Each Basecamp trainee has an advisor who helps them to put together their own training plan.

This weekend event is based at Scoughall, our campsite near North Berwick. Accommodation is in small dorms.

The COmMISSION Programme

This event is part of the COmMISSION programme. In addition to training, we provide the opportunity to put your training into action by serving as a trainee leader on a holiday or mission team.

The COmMISSION programme ends with a weekend of review and celebration towards the end of August. At this weekend you will have time, along with others, to share and reflect on the part you and hundreds of others have played in sharing Jesus with Scotland’s young people.

Cost:

We ask you to raise £300 as a donation to the costs of the COmMISSION programme. This includes your attendance at a training event, the costs associated with being a trainee at a holiday or mission and the review weekend.

A a deposit of £20 is required to book your place on the COmMISSION progamme and all further contributions should be made by 31st August 2020.

What's the location like?

A great place for all a seaside holiday has to offer - fabulous activities… sunny east coast… campfires on the beach…loads of outdoor fun!

What's Outside?

For starters there is an absolutely massive beach. The campsite is very close to the sea, so there are bucket-loads of things to do on the beach. There’s also plenty of space around Scoughall for all sorts of fun and games – biking, archery, aerial runway, climbing wall…

What’s inside?

A games hall and games room with pool, table tennis and table football. There’s also a meeting room inside, along with some sleeping accommodation, the dining room, kitchen, toilets and showers. So this really is camping with the best of both worlds. Enjoy the outdoor life, the sand dunes, the beach, the wide open space, then relax indoors for meals and evening meeting times. And even if it is wet, there is still plenty to do inside!

Where is it?

One of Scotland’s sunniest spots. Scoughall (pronounced “skole”) is in East Lothian, not far from North Berwick.
