Basecamp Kingscross - TBKX2

Training, Basecamp
14 - 20 Jun, Kingscross , S5 - S6, £299.00
Accompanied travel: Ardrossan, Glasgow

Basecamp is for you if you are over 16 and in S5 or S6 at school, or under 18 and have recently left school.

Basecamp includes worship, Bible teaching, youth & children’s work training, activities, time to relax, all while making new friends and starting to work towards an SQA qualification. Those who have attended previously talk about the massive benefit that it has had on them by giving them the chance to grow in faith while developing key leadership skills for their future.

There will be excellent Bible engagement sessions, group discussion and key workshops designed to help you develop the skills you need to work with children and young people and introduce them to the Christian faith. You can expect to think about:

  • How you can be a valuable part of a team

  • What Christian leadership looks like

  • How you can help with small group teaching

  • How to care for your small group of young people

  • The purpose of games and how to lead them

Each Basecamp trainee has an Advisor who helps them to put together their own training plan.

The COmMISSION Programme

Basecamp is part of the COmMISSION programme. In addition to training, we also provide the opportunity to put your training into action by serving as a team member on an SU holiday or mission event. There is also the chance for you to undertake placements in your own church setting too which shows the flexibility of the programme.

The programme is then finished off with a weekend of review and celebration where there will be time, along with others, to share and reflect on the part you and hundreds of others have played in sharing Jesus with Scotland’s young people.

Lendrick Muir is the venue for this year’s Review Weekend from 21-23 August 2026. (The cost for all of this is included in your Basecamp booking, please indicate when booking if you will be attending The Review Weekend).

Cost: The fee for Basecamp covers

  • Your place at Basecamp

  • Your placement event
  • Accommodation, food, and resources

  • Travel from Glasgow and Ardrossan
  • Your place at the Review Weekend

We are able to offer COmMISSION at a substantially discounted fee as a result of generous donations and encourage all participants to consider how they can meet this. We do not want anyone to miss out because of costs though, and are able to help through our Miss Rose Fund. To apply or discuss further with one of our team complete the form www.suholidays.org.uk/financial-aid
