In Easter 2026 the SU SNOW Holiday is heading back to Austria.

 

We have two main aims: to get closer to God, and to live life to the full. We also happen to believe that you achieve the second of these by doing the first and we think that the mountains of Austria is the perfect place for both!

 

The travel

We will leave on Saturday morning from Glasgow and travel via Eurotunnel and then through the night to arrive at our hotel in Austria early Sunday afternoon. We will ski 5 days (Monday to Friday) in the nearby ski area and then depart later on Saturday to arrive back home on Sunday afternoon.

 

The location

The Sonnenburg Hotel is a stunning property directly on the slopes of the Wetterstein ski area, and only 5-10 minutes walk to the centre of the village.  Ehrwald is a superb resort offering guaranteed snow (at the Zuspitze glacier) and over 207km of piste split over 9 ski areas. It is fantastic for skiers and snowboarders of all levels with a total of 74 blue, 55 red and 11 black runs.

 

The accommodation

The Sonnenburg Hotel (www.sonnenburghotel.com) is a modern hotel accommodating guests mainly in 4 & 6 bedded rooms all with private facilities. The hotel is designed for the needs of UK school aged young people, with a meeting space, TV room, a pool table and table football, new dining room and large recreation room. To ensure that getting out to the slopes is as easy as possible, the hotel also provides a ski room to store equipment.

It's all about the snow! Whether you're a skier or snowboarder, beginner or pro – we’ll provide ski hire, instruction, 5 day ski pass, accommodation, and insurance.

What's the location like?

The Sonnenburg Hotel is ideally located directly on the slopes of Wetterstein ski area. A state-of-the-art six seater ski lift departs just outside of the hotel giving you easy access to the slopes. The areas of Lermoos, Biberwier and Ehrwalder Alm are all within a 5 to 10minute journey of your hotel.

What's inside?

The Sonnenburg Hotel is fully booked by the SU Holiday, so you will enjoy full access to the facilities on offer. If you need anything else, a short 5–10 minute walk takes you into the quaint town, where you find lots of dainty shops to stock up on souvenirs and snacks.

To refuel, a welcoming dining area serves a variety of warming foods, from classic Austrian cuisine to cosy favourites like pizza and pasta. If you’re still overflowing with energy as the day draws to a close, you can join friends in the sitting area to laugh, chat, and even compete in some table football. Or perhaps, you would rather take a peaceful moment on the enclosed balcony to enjoy the fading warmth of the sunset?
