Basecamp Kingscross - Week 2 - TBKX2
Basecamp is for young people aged 16 or over who are in S5 or S6 at school, or who have recently left school and are still under 18.
Basecamp includes worship, Bible teaching, youth and children's work training, activities, and time to relax, all while making new friends and beginning work towards an SCQF qualification accredited by Qualification Scotland. Those who have attended previously often speak about the huge impact Basecamp has had on their lives, giving them the opportunity to grow in their faith, build lasting friendships, and develop valuable leadership skills for the future.
You can look forward to excellent Bible engagement sessions, group discussions, and practical workshops designed to equip you to work with children and young people and help them explore the Christian faith.
During Basecamp, you'll have the opportunity to think about:
-
How you can be a valuable part of a team
-
What Christian leadership looks like in practice
-
How to lead and contribute to small group discussions
-
How to care for and support young people in your group
-
The purpose of games and activities, and how to lead them effectively
Each Basecamp trainee is supported by a dedicated Advisor who will help them create a personalised training plan.
The COmMISSION Programme
Basecamp is part of the COmMISSION programme. Alongside the training you receive, you'll have the opportunity to put your learning into practice by serving as a team member on an SU holiday or mission event. There is also the option to undertake placements within your own church, giving you flexibility in how you complete the programme.
The programme concludes with a Review Weekend, where you'll join with others from across Scotland to celebrate, reflect, and share stories of the part you have played, alongside hundreds of other young people, in sharing Jesus with Scotland's children and young people.
Lendrick Muir will host the Review Weekend from 20-22 August 2027. The cost of the Review Weekend is included in your Basecamp booking. Please indicate when booking if you plan to attend.
